Epsilon Italia srl is an independent SME established in 1996 in Mendicino (CS), Southern Italy.
The company provides the end users with innovative and technologically advanced solutions in the Geographic Information domain: GIS, WEBGIS, Spatial Data Infrastructures, GI standards, INSPIRE implementations, SEIS implementations, Satellite Remote Sensing (marine and terrestrial applications).
The company provides technical support and vocational training to Local Public Administrations and to private entities.
Thanks to the well-established technical experience of its human resources, Epsilon Italia is actively involved in Research & Development activities, carried out either on its own or in partnership with national and international Universities and Research Centers.
Experience in related projects
Coordinator of the FP7 Support Action smeSpire (www.smespire.eu) “A European Community of SMEs built on Environmental Digital Content and Languages”, aiming at supporting European geoICT SMEs to turn the INSPIRE challenges into business opportunities, by means of: i) an assessment of the market potential for geoICT SMEs in Europe; ii) the set-up of a network of geoICT SMEs across Europe; iii) the development of vocational training curricula to fill-in the GI knowledge gaps of geoICT SMEs; iv) the development of a Best Practice Catalogue for geoICT SMEs.
Technical partner in the following projects:

  • ICT/PSP “eENVplus” (http://www.eenvplus.eu/), which develops eEnvironmental services for advanced applications within INSPIRE, to be implemented and tested in 10 pilots-scenarios.
  • ICT/PSP “Smart Islands” (www.smart-islands.eu), which delivers smart web services accessible on mobile clients for the Mediterranean islands.
  • EUROSTARS “3D Aerodromes” (www.3d-aerodromes.com), which creates a 3D Geodatabase to assist navigation for general aviation aircrafts.
  • LIFE+ “ArcFUEL” (www.arcfuel.eu), for forest fires fuel management.
Brief description of the role within the project
The role of EPSIT within the project will be targeted to explicitly promoting a number of liaisons with other projects and EU initiatives including EULF, INSPIRE, CEN TC 287, EU projects etc. in the context of T.6.4 – Liasions with other projects and initiatives of which they are leader.
In addition to this EPSIT will significantly contribute to the organization of main events from the consortium, from the annual conference to the yearly challenge (see T.6.3 – Organisation of events (inc. events targeted to citizens)).
Additionally their contribution will be on creation of business exploitation opportunities for the project’s achievements, aimed at European SMEs operating in the field of LBS (as leader of T.6.5 – Exploitation towards industry). For this it will leverage on the network of 350+ companies operating in the geo-ICT domain, under the umbrella of smeSpire of which they are the coordinators.
