TECH is a high-tech incubator and accelerator, located in a science park. Five buildings on two sites provide local businesses with offices, a co-working space, a fab lab (3D printing and prototyping facility), industrial facilities, as well as meeting and conference rooms for large public events. TECH is an active member of the European Space Incubators Network ESINET, the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) and the European Business innovation centres Network (EBN). It has strong experience in the successful deployment of open data and geolocalisation-based technologies and supports the development of innovative ventures on those specific market segments (e.g. MRK Management Consultants GmbH, Geosense). As a spin-off from the public research centre Henri Tudor, TECH has been dealing with the commercialisation of innovation for more than 20 years. It offers support programmes and expertise to SMES and researchers, with a specific focus on business models, market strategies and IPR issues. Technoport is moreover active as an international demonstration facility for research results, showcasing technologies from small and medium-size market players, including the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), hosted start-ups and foreign SMEs.
Experience in related projects
TECH has strong experience in FP7 and FP6 projects, focusing on coordination and support actions for the benefit of SMEs. Examples of current and previous FP research projects include: 1) DIGIBIC: to bring together innovation and research partners to increase the exploitation of digital research results by SMEs. TECH is the leader of WP4, focusing on reaching strategic end users across Europe and drafting exploitation plans for innovative technologies; 2) NAVOBS +: to improve the participation of SMEs in RTD activities related to Space infrastructures, working on the entire innovation value chain and building synergies at early stage between research & industry players. 3) DETECT-IT2: to support innovative SMEs in FP7 proposals as research or exploitation partners. TECH is moreover a partner in the “Living Labs application for internationalization of start-up companies (LILA)” Interreg IV-B project, which is aimed at creating long term and sustainable communities of users for innovative technologies from seven EU regions.
